BlackBerry Thunder/Storm Video!

September 10, 2008 in BlackBerry, Handsets, Video

Uhohs! We’ve finally got video of the BlackBerry Thunder slash BlackBerry Storm from a true mobile phone ninja. Accelerometer? CHECK! Touch screen that uses the whole surface as one big button? CHECK! Total awesomeness to the Nth degree? Hmmmm… we’ll get back to you on that one.

We edited the video and reupped to YouTube so you wouldn’t have to wade through several minutes of other junk, but the original video can be found here:

Hopefully the phone is still “delayed” because the accelerometer responds pretty darn slowly and the reviewer seemed to be trying unsuccessfully hard to lift his enthusiasm above pessimistic in regards to that touch screen button feature.

Maybe its something you just have to “get used to”. Regardless… this phone would have to perform horridly to be anything short of a huge hit (in terms of sales). I mean cmon, its the first touch screen BlackBerry, right?

  1. aaah...that screen button thing is pretty ***.. :\
  2. I thought the same thign.... but I think I thought that because I believed him. If anyone has ever dealt with the irritation of pressing buttons you didn't mean to, this could be really cool.

The question is how FAST can you use it. because it is all one button you'll have to "release" before you can "push" again. Having separate keys allows you to press buttons quickly in succession (LG Voyager FTW).

So... will this one button screen be too irritating to use?
  3. Hi,

I can't access the full video on youtube? did you remove it?
i really wanna see the full video.
  4. It looks like YouTube took down my video.

Basically, the video was 5 minutes long and only 2 minutes was for the Thunder. It was annoying to have to load the whole thing and then find the Thunder stuff. So, I cropped it and re-upped it to YouTube thinking other people would enjoy the convenience.

Then the user removed it himself. I tried to contact him with no response. I'm not sure if he was fired or where he even works but its pretty obvious he didn't hide his face too well and was easily identifiable.

I'm not sure if he got in trouble for making the video or not. I'm not sure if they removed my video because he requested it or RIM requested it. But I probably won't upload it elsewhere. Sorry about that- I would just feel bad if this kid is going through more trouble than he has to because of me. If its RIM who doesnt want the video up I wouldnt really care but its impossible for me to identify.

There is the possibility that RIM had his video removed and then followed up and had mine removed. Oh well, I think most people saw it that wanted to and more info should be coming out soon anyways.
