Sony Ericsson’s President Announces Ch..Ch..Ch..Changes

October 27, 2008 in Industry News, Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson’s President, Hideki ‘Dick’ Komiyama has spilled the beans on there plans for 2009. Looks like SE wants to shrink its three different Research & Development sections into one so that they don’t spend a whole bunch of time and money developing the same products. In addition they are likely to release fewer products in 2009 because of this.

In my opinion, this makes sense. We’ve seen a lot of familiar products come out of SE (and others, Samsung we’re looking at you) that really have very few unique attributes to distinguish themselves. At one point I knew Sony Ericsson’s product line, but I gave up after the umpteenth Cyber-Shot/Walkman autofocus do-dad came on the market. Lets hope this new found efficiency can bring SE back up to its old, trendsetting standards…and profitability standards.
