LG Watch Phone Video Demo

by Rob on January 8th, 2009

The LG Watch Phone seems to be the main attention grabber at CES this year with articles across the web claiming Dick Tracy’s watch has finally arrived. And while last year a concept version of the LG Watch Phone was seen, the fact that a PRODUCTION model will be released to consumers in 2009 is causing everyone’s head to turn.

We’ve seen pictures. We’ve read specs. And now… we can watch a video demo:

I have one main complaint… I know a LOT of people who wear watches not as a convenient tool but as a jewelry/fashion statement. While the functionality was demoed, something we definitely needed to see, I wish we could have seen some different screens the watch is capable of displaying. There is no WAY that LG would make a watch phone that only has the capabilty to show one watch face. It should have dozens and dozens… even hundreds and hundreds of options.

Furthermore, why not open this thing up to a competition and ask designers/programmers to create their own faces for the LG watch which users would then be able to download? Brilliant if I may say so myself.

But regardless, this thing looks practical and promising. At the moment I don’t wear watches and I don’t use bluetooth headsets. But all that might change when this thing hits the market. Depending on location, carrier and price of course.
