Palm App Catalog Announced

by Rob on January 9th, 2009

Along with the Palm WebOS and Palm Pre will come the Palm App Catalog, an on-device collection of applications that will compete directly with the likes of Android Market, iPhone App Store and BlackBerry App Center.

The news came by way of Palm’s new Developer Website that announced the Palm Mojo Application Framework as the method for developers to build applications for Palm WebOS. It will be based on HTML5, CSS and JavaScript standards.

The Palm Mojo SDK is currently in private prerelease but will be available later this year as a free download from the Palm Developer Network. It will include sample code, documentation and development tools with an eclipse-based IDE.

Palm has also launched a developer blog with an RSS Feed for all those that want to stay up to date with the happenings of Palm’s new system… and I’m guessing that will be A LOT of you.
