There has been a lot of little news here and there about the status of Palm WebOS’s first phone, the Palm Pre and we wanted to catch you up to date. So here is the latest news coming from THE site for Palm WebOS news – PalmWebOS.org:
Palm Pre Tethering on Sprint?
The kids who like high powered, sexy smartphones are usually the ones using their phones the most. Heavy phone usage is one thing but tethering – that’s a completely different ball game. So of course, Pre/Sprint fans were excited when tethering capabilities appeared on Sprint’s Pre page. But not so fast. It was a matter of a few days before Sprint removed the tethering feature. What gives? We have no clue… but we’ll keep you posted!
Official WebOS Developer Guide
Are you the dev type? Well in addition to the iPhone and Android it looks like Palm WebOS is going to offer a HUGE opportunity for developers to get their apps into the mainstream and make a few bucks in the process. If you’re looking to get an early jump on the WebOS action check out the official book by O’Reilley – you can learn more at PalmWebOS.org including getting the first chapter for free.
Palm Pre Hitting UK, Vodafone Exclusive?
It became pretty obvious that the Palm Pre would be hitting Europe sooner rather than later when the Pre showed up on Palm’s UK website with the option to sign up for email updates. It now looks like the Pre might be headed to Vodafone. Although the negotiation seems to be in early stages, Vodafone would make a logical partner. There is no word on whether or not T-Mobile is also trying to get a piece of the action but it’s exciting to know that deals are in the works!
Palm Pre Touchstone Cover
Some interesting news on the Palm Pre Touchstone Cover front. If you like that glossy Pre cover and also want the Touchstone you’re out of luck. The touchstone works by using magnets to pull the phone tight but the glossy cover doesn’t have those magnets. The Touchstone comes with an extra cover that DOES have the magnets but IS NOT glossy. Not sure how many people this will upset but hey – it’s life. See the full story.
Palm Pre Exclusive On Sprint
There is no telling how long the Palm Pre will be an exclusive on Sprint but one thing is for sure – it WILL be an exclusive.
