Apple has just released the newest beta of OS 3.0, beta 5—build 7A312g. It comes with a new beta of the SDK and a copy of iTunes 8.2.

There are no new features to report on but there are changes to StoreKit and multiple fixes. According to the official release notes this was supposed to be no more than a bug fix, however users seem to finding a few significant changes. The YouTube app is apprently streaming better, and is now defaulting to the higher quality videos while on 3G. Previously, the default for 3G was low-quality videos.

In addition, the previously discovered stop-gap for enabling MMS appears to be no longer working, and there are rumblings that Apple may have boosted the anti-tethering measures it has been trying to put into place. Stay tuned for more updates.
