LG VX11000 Trashes Voyager name, now enV Touch

by Elias Chiddicks on May 8th, 2009

Rumours and names have been floating around a lot recently regarding the replacement for the LG Voyager. Some suggested Verizon might choose something like “Voyager 2” but according to PhoneArena, Big Red sees more logic in relabeling it LG enV Touch. This name does, admittedly, simplify the range of LG QWERTYified handsets offered by Verizon, so the move does make sense. Catch shots of the enV Touch below.

The new enV Touch will have a similar UI to the LG S-Class, and both displays will be 480×800 resolution, with the external being touch-sensitive. Also included is a 3 megapixel autofocus camera, complete with Schneider Kreuznach lens and LED flash, stereo speakers, QWERTY keyboard, 3.5mm headset jack and the ability to hold microSDHC cards up to a capacity of 16GB.

I am understanding this is going to be a slider phone, note the one picture says slide up to unlock.

I think it will follow the same form factor as the enV and Voyager, i.e. flip open. The “Slide up to unlock” is just an unlocking feature for the front screen to keep from accidentally initiating the touchscreen display, much likes the iPhone’s slide across the screen to unlock feature.

What plan do you need ? Because to get the voager you have to have something like a nationwide family plan. If you need that to get the EnV touch im going to be really disappointed.

Well I was up for my new every 2 and was looking at phones. I really wanted the Samsung Omnia for its quite impressive features but needed a data plan.

So I waited a few weeks and saw the enV Touch. Always liked the first enV and was curious.

So I looked at the features and was impressed. Decided to order it since I could get it for $100 bucks. Got it and I don’t think I can ever regret my choice. it is an amazing phone.

It feels to me like LG finally got the perfect blend of phone/media player/camers. Not too much camera but not too much anything else. And I came from a Samsung SCH-A990 (before it was renamed the Flipshot) so it was quite a change.

But I love the phone. Can’t wait to get a SD card to load it with music, videos and the such. Already have about 20 songs on it to just listen to and I can’t put the damn thing down even at work where phones are a no-no. I even like it better than the Storm and iPhone (not a fan of Apple as it is).

love to see what you think, share your view at http://www.Env-Touch.com a place just for the Env-Touch owners.

Seeing as they just dropped the price by $50, have you given Verizon a call to see if you can get some credit for the price change?

Just got the Touch and love it. The problem I’m having is the battery life. I charged and got it set to use. The next morning I threw it in my bag and left for work. I went to make a call and it was dead. I charge it again and the next day it was down to 2 bars. I hardly use my phone. I think the display drains the battery. BTW, my new every two was up and I got hte phone for $50.
