Zune Phone on The Way?

There has been some intriguing updates from Microsoft on the Zune front, and it looks like good things might be coming down the pipeline for the iPod fighter. An account created on Twitter to publicize the upcoming release of Microsoft Office 2010 has been raising a little bit of excitement about the Zune platform. The Twitter account, @officethemovie, which is tied to the website Office 2010: The Movie started off with Tweets about Office but then delivered a somewhat curious message: “June 2009 will be an important month for Zune lovers.” When hounded by Twitter users regarding the Tweet the response from the account was an even more interesting “New product launch, that’s all I’m allowed to say. Hold off from buying an iPhone/Pre.
”

The possibility of a Zune phone has been rumoured for a while now, but it was thought that the upcoming Zune HD would not yet hit cell phone territory and simple compete with the likes of the iPod Touch, while Windows Mobile phones recieved Zune media applications. The Tweet looks to be suggesting different though, especially given the mention of the iPhone and Palm Pre. It looks like June is going to be a very interesting month indeed for the mobile phone world.
