Mozilla is soldering on with its mobile edition of Firefox, called Fennec. The company has to bring the goods to the table, especially when its attempting to get into the mobile browser market, one that is already crowded by some excellent examples. So today the company announced the availability of Fennec Alpha 2 for Windows Mobile devices for the use of testers and developers. The aims of this Alpha were outlined in the release notes, with Mozilla hoping to:

  • get wider feedback on our approach to the user experience;
  • engage Mozilla community teams, including localizers, and testers;
  • get feedback from Web developers;
  • encourage add-on developers to port existing add-ons and invent new ones for mobile.

Mentioned in the notes is the Smart URL Bar, or “awesome bar” as they call it, new themes and better touchscreen capabilities for the software. If you feel like getting in on the ground floor, click the link below and let us know how thinks shape up.
