Sony Ericsson Kiki Looks Unique… E?

by Rob on July 5th, 2009

I had to throw in that last “E” to make it rhyme. Anyways, it is rare these days to see mobile phones built on a truly unique concept. While lots of things have been tried/attemtped, it seems most of the industry is headed towards the common denominator slim/sleek touchscreen – sometimes with a keyboard. The Sony Ericsson Kiki phone which was just leaked takes a direction unlike any other phone on the market.

The screen on the phone is recessed glass and it appears the image on the screen is somehow projected onto it, giving a unique depth to the images. Sony Ericsson is calling this a “purity” product and that name makes sense as it seems designed more like a European furniture piece than a mobile phone. Perhaps that is why the features on the phone are thougth to be pretty basic – this is probably a low end phone in terms of features and specs with a focus purely on design beauty and unique style.

There are few details on this so it’ll be interesting to see if the Kiki even makes it to market.
