We like advancements in cameraphone technology as much as the next mobile phone blog, but has LG’s GC990 finally crossed the gradually blurring line between camera and phone? On one side this phone channels a little iPhone, a little Samsung, but on the other side its all point-and-shoot looking, with only the details on the lens giving it away.
But its not all about looks, the GC990 packs some serious punch under the hood as well. The camera comes in at 12 megapixels, but more importantly the lens is a Schneider-Kreuznach, which will help quality more than a googleplex of megapixels ever will. The phone also has a Xenon flash and the ability to shoot up to 3200 ISO, although given its camaraphone status we can’t imagine that level being pleasant to look at in the slightest.
On the phone side is LG’s S-Class UI, WiFi, DLNA streaming, TV-out and GPS. The screen is a 3.2 inch touchscreen jobber. Now for the truly tragic news. LG has said that the GC990 will never make it to market, instead suffering a fate of tech show demoing. *Sigh*
