Blackberry 9550 to be the Storm 2

While the RIM’s first iteration of the Storm slowly loses steam in light of newer touchscreen devices, it appears the Storm 2 is well on track. Rumor has it that the Blackberry 9550 will also be known as the Storm 2, most likely to show up on Verizon and Vodaphone.

From the looks of this picture, the Storm 2 will receive the previously suggested upgrade from the much maligned SurePress screen technology. The big news is of course that the Storm 2 will also be getting WiFi. Other specs include the same CDMA 1xRTT/EVDO Rev. A, GSM/EDGE and HSDPA 2100Mhz support as the previous model, 3.2 megapixel camera, 360 x 480 resolution display and 5.0 Blackberry OS.
All of this looks a little similar, save for some critical updates, so call this more of an evolution than a revolution in product. As a point of interest, the version of the Storm meant for AT&T/Rogers will be based off of the Storm 2, rather than the first Storm.
