iPhone 3GS: Useless For Businesses?
| by Rob on July 23rd, 2009 |
BlackBerries and Windows Mobile devices are typically the devices of choice for business and corporate users because of their robust handling of Email and also their security. Apple’s iPhone is starting to make a little dent in that standard, but security expert Jonathan Zdziarski says it shouldn’t and business customers should be downright scared of using the iPhone 3GS:
“It is kind of like storing all your secret messages right next to the secret decoder ring,” said Jonathan Zdziarski, an iPhone developer and a hacker who teaches forensics courses on recovering data from iPhones. “I don’t think any of us [developers] have ever seen encryption implemented so poorly before, which is why it’s hard to describe why it’s such a big threat to security.”

Ouch. Apparently a couple short minutes installing free software on the phone and access to everything you could ever imagine – or fear – is instantly at somebody else’s fingertips.
