Nokia Comes With Music Also Comes With Delays

by Rob on September 1st, 2009

The Nokia Comes With Music service promises to be pretty awesome – it allows customers who purchase a “Comes With Music” enabled Nokia phone to download unlimited copy-protected songs for 1 to 1.5 years after purchase. Nokia also promised that the service would launch in the United States during the 2009 year after it made a debut in Great Britain in October 2008. Now the only promise we have is that the American launch will be delayed until at least 2010.

Nokia blames the delays on poor peformance in other developed countries where they don’t have exceptionally strong carrier relationships. Some are considering this a blessing in disguise – the company will be launching several elite handsets while it simultaneously looks to sweeten the Comes With Music deal for US carriers, which could result in the perfect storm for a company that has had trouble penetrating the American market.

Nokia fans should be disappointed about this Comes With Music delay, but stay optimistic because next year has some exciting opportunities and we’ll find out what many of them are tomorrow at Nokia World 2009!
