iPad: Apple Tablet Announcement January 19th?
| by Rob on September 29th, 2009 |
The rumors of an Apple Tablet have been persistently pushing around RSS feed readers for the better half a year. The move would be a pretty obvious one for Apple and the fact that they’re working on some sort of iTablet is assumed true – the rumors now are all about what will come to fruition and when. What makes the Tablet rumors harder to gauge is that Steve Jobs has himself killed two iterations.
But the most recent word from iLounge.com seems very credible and very possible. Here is the skinny:
- Named iPad
- 3 separate prototypes exist
- Current version has 10.7-inch screen
- Runs iPhone OS
- Looks like oversized iPhone 3G
- One version will have cell connection (3G) the other will work like the iPod Touch (Wi-Fi)
- 720p resolution (estimated)
- Media player to compete and surpass Kindle
- Announcement January 19th 2010, Launch in May or June 2010
There is only an 80% chance that this version of the iPad will make it to market. Steve Jobs could kill this one as well – he killed rounds 1 and 2 for poor battery life and insufficient memory, so we should hope that this version passes the Jobs’ test.
