Apple in Search of an LED Flash
| by Elias Chiddicks on January 12th, 2010 |
It is pretty common knowledge that, if Apple wants to compete in the mobile phone camera fight, its fairly measly attempts made thus far will not fit the bill. What with an uncompetitive number of megapixels and almost no low-light abilities, the current offering leaves a lot to be desired.

Rumors for the next-gen already have a megapixel increase set out (of 5 megapixels), but it is just recently that Apple has started the search for an LED flash supplier. Congrats on the move Apple, you have now caught up to RIM of three years ago. But pokes aside, we’re glad to see Apple is moving on one of the last questionable features left in the iPhone.
So far the most likely candidate looks to be LumiLEDs.
