Expect Windows Mobile 7 at MWC in February

by Elias Chiddicks on January 12th, 2010

Windows Mobile 7 is Microsoft’s last great hope to prevent them from fading away into the mists of non-competition. And, as it happens, the Mobile World Congress is just the place they seem to have chosen to prove that all is well with WM7.

Although nothing has been stated specifically mentioning both “Windows Mobile 7” and “Mobile World Congress,” the invite gives it all away:

Microsoft will be making several exciting announcements during the show. You will learn:

How the company plans to align its consumer vision and grow opportunities for the mobile industry as a whole.
How it will tackle challenging times ahead, in the face of economic uncertainty and stiffening competition.

Oh please Microsoft, we can see right through you. Or have you really found some magical way to “grow opportunities” without actually having to update your OS?

    Yes, it’s Microsoft’s last chance.

The Windows Mobile fiasco has gone on for long enough. It is time to show us the Windows Mobile 7 operating system. Show us something real. We will not tolerate more delays.

Many handset manufacturers have already left Windows Mobile. I think if Microsoft can’t display a working WM7 OS in February, many more handset OEMs will leave.
