T-Mobile Announces Motorola ROKR E8
T-Mobile has officially announced a new member of the family, the ROKR E8, meaning Motorola has officially made its first significant foray into North America with what we would term, its new generation.

What makes it the new generation? Well, the new Linux OS for starters, plus a unique profile, cool morphing keypad, excellent music capabilities and design and function that is totally unrelated to the RAZR (sorry, RAZR 2 V8…you’re out). Personally, given the extent of T-Mobile’s 3G network, we are not at all hurt by the absence of 3G on the E8. We hope this is just the beginning for Motorola (and their comeback?), this device certainly deserves to do well.
It will available July 7th, for $199.99 with a 2-Year Contract.

MyT-Mobile to Get T-Mobiler
T-Mobile’s official resource for customers, MyT-Mobile.com, is about to become much more useful. Four new components are on the way:
- MyAlbum
- MyContacts
- MyFaves
- Mobile Backups
Judging from the My(Name) structure, one could assume these features will launch as an extension of MyT-Mobile and not as a seperate, standalone site.
We’ll spare you the details because the new features are pretty darn self-explanatory. But, if you’re a detail oriented kind of person, feel free to head on over to TmoNews for the full story.
T-Mobile MDA Vario IV
Looks like the HTC Raphael and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 have company. The T-Mobile MDA Vario IV is essentially the T-Mobile branded Raphael for the Germans out there.
It looks pretty slick and has the specs to match:
I’m pretty sure words like Lieferumfang and Ersatzstift give you a good enough idea that this won’t be released in the USA. At least, not under the Vario IV name.

T-Mobileload Dropping June through August
We’re always excited to hear about announcements of new handsets - but 16?!??!
Some fairly credible documents have popped up that suggest an outrageous pace of handsets for release in the upcoming months. Here are the releases as announced by TMoNews.com:
- 1. Nokia 5310
- 2. Nokia 5610
- 3. Shadow II
- 4. Nokia 2760
- 5. Nokia 1208
- 6. Nokia 6301
- 7. Shadow III (Damn, did we say that?!)
- 8. Samsung T339
- 9. Samsung T229
- 10. Blackberry Bold
- 11. Blackberry KickStart
- 12. Motorola W450
- 13. Motorola Rokr E8
Note that 3 of the 16 are missing. The rumor mill can only do so much chugging - stop being greedy! In fact, some of these might be a bit off base. Other solid sources suggest that the BlackBerry Bold will come out on T-Mobile in September, which would make this rumor inaccurate.
It is a rumor and it is subject to flexibility, not to mention complete inaccuracy, but there is good reason to believe that T-Mobile will indeed go on a release spree.
The Boy Genius followed through, giving us extensive details on five of the 16:
- Nokia 2760 - Available June 16: Smooth low end clamshell with all the basics
- Nokia XpressMusic 5610 - Available TBD (we heard June): Estranged brother of the 5310; Slider, 3.2 megapixel camera, A2DP stereo bluetooth, external music player controls, microSDHC support and plenty more
- Nokia 6301 - Available June 23: Sleek and elegant candy bar with WiFi, 2 megapixel camera, A2DP stereo bluetooth and all the rest S40 has to offer
- Samsung t229 - Available June: Bright red low end clamshell with a 4x zoom camera and the basics
- Samsung t339 - Available June 23: Sexier slimmed down burgundy clamshell with WiFi, 1.3 megapixel camera, A2DP stereo bluetooth and more
Not only that, he came through with internal infosheets. If our T-Mobile fans aren’t satisfied with today’s news, they must be looking for an anouncement that T-Mobile phones will be offering freaking time travel by December.
Here are the infosheets:
