I know some people who really like the glyde. In my opinion, it all depends on what type of mobile user you are and what you plan to do on your phone. If typing/texting is a main priority, the glyde DEFINITELY trumps the iPhone. But the iPhone has the glyde beat in most other areas.
That being said, MORE important to you should be the carrier. What is more important to you, having great service at college or at home? Is one mediocre in both places and the other terrible in one and great in another?
Get the carrier thing straightened out first - no matter how awesome your phone is, if you can't connect to get service it won't matter anyways!
