Default Did you Buy the Glyde? Will you?

It's officially out! Let us know if you bought it yet, if you've received it and if so... what you think of it!

Also if you didn't buy it but had planned on it... why not?

I WOULD but don't really want to sign a new 2 year agreement since mine is coming to an end in about 6 months... Hmmm... I might get it anyways though! Haha.

I picked up a Glyde two days ago. Had intended on getting the Voyager but really liked the Glyde when I saw it in the store. So far I am pretty happy with it. I am not happy that the software to link the phone with my pc does not support this phone yet. Also the touch screen can be frustrating at times. I am still learning the phone so maybe these complaints are more user error than problems with the phone.

yeah I guess what I really don't like about it is that it doesn't support vzw tones on vcast song id... yet... Song ID is one of my favorite features about verizon and I can't get it... plus you can always buy ringtones through verizon if you can't find the one you want elsewhere and I can't buy any through verizon but I guess it will keep me from running up my bill...
as to the picture quality it is really good.. better than my old env even. I probably can post a pic sometime today of it.

I got this phone this weekend and so far have no complaints. The VZNavigation works great on it. The websites load quick, the zoom feature using the volume buttons is pretty neat too. It may not have the same touch screen as the iPhone but really that's about all that one might say the iPhone has up on it. Overall pleased, the camera actually focuses and has a decent flash (best one I've seen on a phone). Pictures are sometimes just a little blurry but it's no regular digital camera as no cellphone has achieved yet.

Well... I actually work for verizon we're just a small store so all we do here is sales but I called in to tech support about the issue and they said it's just like what happened with the Samsung 740 (aka the Alias) it took a couple of weeks to get the verizon applications launched to the phone. My manager Stacey said that happened to her on the "Alias" when she got it. But let me know what they say anyways it'd be interesting to know if we get 2 different stories

Question help

I have a few questions, I am really excited about getting the glyde but my hopes and dreams are being crushed,
I can't find a place to get one in Canada, do any of you know of one?
I can't find any stores that carry it, and the sites all seem to be states only, please help.

Also I was wondering if the Glyde could save information on sites like hotmail so I would not have to put in my email and password ever time.

As far as getting on in Canada.... idk. you may have to get one off ebay or something to be able to get one at all... have you tried samsung.com?
Yes it can save email addresses and passwords as far as I know.

Default Got the Glyde

I got my Glyde on the 27th and I really like it. At first, I wasn't too sure if I could get used to the touch pad but once I adjusted the vibration and touch sensitivity, my phone is really suited to how I use it. And on that note...

One thing I really don't like about this phone is the camera. One, the button to take the picture is not an actual button (could have been the home key or side bar when in camera mode) so if you want to take a picture of you and someone else and need to hold the keypad away from you, its really really annoying because you don't know if you are actually touching the "take" button. Two, there is a large lag between pressing the take button and when it actually takes the picture. I realize that this is a phone, but my other phones that had cameras were all much better than the Glyde.

The other issues I have would be that there is little customization compared to other phones I have had. It seems that the only things you can change really is font size, banner, and display image. There is no other menu styles, etc. There is a horrible lack of ringtones available for this phone. The website posted on another thread here is cool and works but quality is hit and miss.

The good thing is that it is somewhat intuitive to what you need and is pretty fun. I like that it is sleek and small but with a decent sized qwerty keyboard. I had the samsung u740 and I thought I would like that but the keyboard was too small and I spent more time fixing typos then actually typing out a text. I looked at the Voyager and while that qwerty keyboard was spacious and it had a bigger external screen, it was so effin huge.

The call quality is really good. I had the enV (not the enV2) and the call quality was iffy, it picked up a lot of external noise on my end and seemed to bug the majority of people I talked to (took that one back before my 30 days). So, its nice to know that this phone is pretty clear.

I am sure I will upgrade in a year or so, but for now, I like my phone and would not trade it in. It's small but functional, has the cool factor (always a plus but not always necessary), and is affordable for the functionality. If Samsung improved on the minor things, this phone would be almost perfect!

yeah I agree that it is harder to take a pic of yourself or even of anything but, you don't have to use the "take" button to take a picture... I'm not sure if you knew or had tried this but you can sbap the picturee with the same button that you use to turn the camera on with. This can be a problem too though b/c if you hold the button too long it turns on the camcorder. but it is a better solution if u are trying to take a picture of yourself
