Album Art Frustration!!!!
Okay I love my phone, but I am beyond frustrated with attempting to get album art on to the phone. I have read all the posts on this forum about it, and still nothing.
I installed the VCast-CRhapsody, and can sync music to my phone fine, but I got like 2 out of the 10 album covers to actually come with the songs.
I took advice and down loaded Media Monkey and did all the Auto-Tagging to get album art, and tags corrected. But that won't allow me to Sync ANYTHING!!!
The help menus and related forums for those programs have been of NO help. Can some please advise me on how to resolve this issue to end my agony????
Thanks.

In order to see the art on your dare you must select each file (you can select more then one file at a time) then right click and go to the Advanced Tag Editor pick the picture tap and then add the art. You will have to already have the art on your computer. once you have done this when you transfer the files to your dare the art will show when you play the file.

Thanks for the feedback. However, I have already done this with the files, but when I transfer them they don't come with the songs.
I did a test with multiple albums, and did manage to get a couple of album covers to transfer. I applied the art work to all the albums the same way (like you mentioned) and from the same place. That is the frustraing part.
After the frustration set in, I tried a totally different album, with art from a different site, and still nothing.
Any other suggestions?

the ones that did transfer, look at file, see how large image is on ones that transfered ok, if the art image is to large it will not work.
in short, double check image size and format
dont try to batch transfer yet, work just a couple songs, till you find your prob

posted by mrksulli in album artwork thread
"I've been messing with this and I've got all my music showing the art. Once you have the music in Rhapsody right click on one or more tracks and go to Edit Track Info. Then to the Art and Statistics tag. You cal drag and drop your art here.
Just go and google (image) the album first and save it where ever. I just stick it in the folder with the album's songs. You don't actually need the file on your phone as far as I know. Get something around 300 x 300 in order for it to be big enough.
Then you can just drag and drop the songs (from My Library) to your phone when it's synced to Rhapsody."
i dont use rhaposody , i use MM and i havent had chance to try to reproduce your sync prob

Okay, I have three songs that will actually show the art work on my phone. The image files are as follows; 500x497 (50.5 Kb), 400x400 (29.8 Kb) and 300x300 (35.1 Kb).
I double checked another song on my phone that doesn't display the album art, and the image for that song is 301x300 (35.1Kb).
I also noticed that I have two songs on my phone from the same album and one shows the art and the other does not. There is a chance I missed that song when applying album art so I won't put total blame on the phone or CRhapsody yet.
Oh yeah, by the way all these songs have been loaded onto my phone using CRhapsody since I have been unsuccessful to get Media Monkey to Sync with my phone.
Anyone with any other thoughts or solutions?

Okay here is the latest in the great Album Art confussion. After looking through all related threads on this forum and another one I took the following steps.
1) Auto-Tagged album from web in Media Monkey
2) Connected DARE as USB Mass Storage device.
3) Dragged and dropped two entire folders (songs and art included) from my PC to DARE's memory card.
4) Pushed the "Exit" Button to disconnect the phone
5) AND NOTHING!!! No music. I reconnected it and the music and folders show up as it is on the card, but the phone doesn't recognize it.
6) So I pulled just the music files and art image out of the sub-folder and directly into the my music folder (including the art work).
7) Now the phone recognizes those files and the songs play, but still no album art.
8) I checked the album art file size and it was like 495x495 and only like 30 Kb. So that should be okay.
If someone...anyone reads this that has successfully put music on their DARE and had it display the album art work, please post a link of the steps you took to accomplish this. I would be forever grateful.

ok so you got ver 5 FW on dare
you formatted sd card with dare
you can add music with rhap, and it plays fine on phone
but little or no album art
your art is under 500x500 and 30kb
MM will not sync
i will look into the MM side of things
and some other mp3 ID taggers
vista or xp?

Yes to everything, and I use Vista. Thanks for any help, or even trying.

Well I finally have had some success with 3 albums. The process is kind of annoying, but I have tried all the other ways. Here's what I did in case anyone else is having the same troubles as I did.
1) I installed Rhapsody and the DARE driver from CD that came with phone, and then imported my music library from my computer.
2) Downloaded Media Monkey, installed it, and imported my music library from my computer.
3) I used the Auto-tag from Web feature to tag album and get art work in Media Monkey, and then closed MM.
4) Then I located the album art work in the file in my music library on my computer, and opened it in Photoshop.
5) Made sure the image size was 300x300, and saved it as "High Quality" (level 8), and then checked to make sure the file was under the 58-64Kb range. Change the name to the album title or something else, because MM defaults the image to "folder.jpeg". Obviously when you get it on your phone you can't have a bunch of image files with the same name.
6) Opened Rhapsody, added the resized art work to the songs/albums in Rhapsody. (make sure you click apply and not just okay)
7) Closed Rhapsody, and connected my phone to my computer using the USB cable. It auto-syncs using the V-cast thingy, but I hit the disconnect/end button, and then go to "Tools&Settings" - "Tools" - "USB Mass Storage", and it should connect. (make sure you plug your USB cable into your phone, and then the computer)
8) Once the Phone is recognized I went to "my music" folder, and then copied songs and the resized album art image files directly from the music library on my computer into the "my music" folder. Just drag and drop. I took only the song files and art files, I tried doing it with folders and sub-folders, but it didn't work.
9) Then hit a button on your phone to bring up the screen again, and click the "Exit Button". And that's it.
It worked for three albums for me last night, but I did have a little bit of an issue with one of the albums being split into two albums. I'll try to figure that out tonight. I don't know why it works when I apply album art in Rhapsody and not Media Monkey, but not when I just did everything in MM. Oh well.
A little lengthy post, but it is a lengthy process that will hopefully be fixed soon. I'll update this if I have any other info about the process the next couple of days.
