Default Applications?

Does anyone know if VZW is planning on adding more apps for the Dare?
The ones they have now are pretty useless and there are only a few it seems.
I'd really like to have an ebook reader, a weather app and a to-do list app...
Is there anything out there like this, or anything in the works?
It seems ridiculous that the iPhone would have a hundred pages of apps for download and the Dare hardly seems supported at all by Verizon.
While I don't care for BREW, I just want the apps, whether they are open source or BREW doesn't really matter.

Default Applications

You have to remember that the Dare is not a smartphone like the I-phone so it is like comparing an apple to an orange.... Verizon will be releasing more apps but probably not the ones you are looking for. Probably best bet is to eaither get an I-phone or any other smart phone like a Blackberry.

Wifi

The Dare, like previously mentioned, is not competing with the iPhone. Verizon Wireless refuses to compete with the iPhone since it may make Verizon look bad since Verizon was originally asked to support the first iPhone and they rejected the deal since Apple wanted 90% of the profits. Also, the iPhone's reliablilty is much lower than that of the Dare or the Voyager.

Yes, new apps are constantly being created for the Dare. At first, the Voyager had a little amount of apps while now it has a lot. The same will happen with the Dare. The Apple App Store was also very small compared to anything when it first came out. But you gotta remember. They create the same apps for iPods and computers, besides the iPhone. While with Verizon, each phone is different and has different software which requires a different design to each application.

Also, BREW was the FIRST over the air downloading service that was ever offered. Before BREW, nothing could be wirelessly downloaded. Verizon and Qualcomm created BREW in 2000-2001. It is the most reliable software downloading service.

Pricing/Plans

Well, I think Verizon is waiting to see if we're all smart enough to just surf to sites that provide most (if not all) the information we got that way before. Be sure you have at least the $15/month add-on so you're not stuck with "per MB" charges: for weather, just go to "weather.com" or "digitalcyclone.com" or whatever with the web-browser, the same place you got it before. Sure - not as simply as point and click and maybe I'd like to have it separate just for convenience, but - you don't really need it. Radar loops, forecasts, etc. are all over the 'net...

That works for weather - I also like Google's SMS service of just texting the word "weather" to google - but it doesn't help at all with the reader app or the to-do (task) list app. I'm assuming that they are diligently working on software now and that the options will increase soon...

You would have to assume they are. Likely just adding the API for touch to them so they work correctly...
