Hi Apollon, you can soft reset you device by pushing the small pin hole beside the power button.

id totally hop on the iphone bandwagon if it werent for not having copy and paste (which should have been resolved with the 2.0 os) and no video recording and no native flash support.. and i cant wait for developers to fix these problems or release future apps and browsers.. my contract with att is up so when the xperia and omnia areout in the usa ill sell my tilt and get one ( hopefully they arent over $500 with a new contract)

Samsung i907 cleared by FCC
This is the official document list:
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/...7A3LSGHI907%27
If you open the 4th document from the top "RF Exposure info 1" you will see the supported frequencies list and 1900Mhz WCDMA is on there. So, my question is - did Samsung replace the radio chip for i907 or is it the same chip as i900 and it's capable of UMTS 1900 and they just upgraded firmware to enable that frequency on existing radio?

well i doubt their use different hardware for a family series device..just like the tilt their were different variations in cosmetics and name but same hardware..well some variations in hardware but you could flash roms to all of the devices..so im guessing your best luck would just to wait for it to come to a us carrier and then find a rom cook to extract the rom and you could flash it to your device..

but then again you have the i900 which possibly (from all the reports) doesnt contain the 1900hz band radio capability

you're contrudicting yourself there...You doubt it's different hardware, and then you say i900's radio is not capable of doing UMTS 1900 band, while we know for a fact i907's radio does support it. So, it must be different radio then, right?

well yes i seem to have contradicted myself but i meant in most cases within the same model aka KTC Kaiser and its carrier specified variants all have the same radio hardware with the exception of the CDMA variants. But this maybe being a different model i900 vs i907 it maybe altered to pass fcc for the states... BUT you may very well have the capabilities but the specs on the internet seems to disagree..so i meant to say it looks like its not gonna happen for the i900 BUT unless the specs arent spot on then you may have a chance at 1900hz UMTS when the i907 comes out.

If they don't want to compete with the iPhone, they might as well get out of the cell phone business completely.

That would not be Samsung, that would be AT&T as they sell the iPhone so they may not want to compete against another of there contracted phones. On the other hand AT&T don't usually cripple phones and the SGH-i907 would make them and Samsung a lot of money and 3rd party apps out the ying-yang for the i907 and closed or on tight reins with Apple.

Yeah, AT&T doesn't usually cripple their phones so I would be surprised that they would do this. And wouldn't it make more sense to sell the phone with the most options available and just charge $500-$600? People will buy it at that price. I know I would

nah, thats not true...the phone will be all that you've read, i.e..3G, WiFi, 5MP camera etc...also, i've been tracking the samsung SGH-i907 in our stores SKU list, and i've been noticing some very interesting updates to the info in our system, such as cost, pricing, UPC # and max level, which usually indicates an very close launch date, so HEADS UP ya'll!

So what's the cost looking like? $500? $600? It's good news that it won't be crippled!

Sweet! I am so glad they are not going to cripple this phone. I will be on the lookout for that drop date.

Omnia or iPhone
anyone know if there will be able to sync the Omnia to a mac powerbook? I don't want an iPhone, but choices seem limited.

No 3g is a let down, but come on, ATT has only 2% of its coverage zone in 3G. But at least it gets ATT TV.

3g radio hardware
Does everyone here appreciate there are 2 versions of this phone
3G Network HSDPA 2100 for Europe/Asia
HSDPA 850 / 1900 for Americas
the asian model is 2100 Mtz and will not give 3g for me on my Australian Telstra network ( but will with Optus who operate at 2100 Mhz in the Cities)
I presume everyone has the asian/europe 2100 Mhz phone which is not compatible with what I understand AT&T run (1900 MHz ,850 MHz in some markets)
Or am I off the mark?

cpa you're right on target. 2 comments though:
1) It's not only AT&T its every North American and specifically US carriers who work with WCDMA 850/1900Mhz
2) There are some rumors flying around Federal Communications Committee (FCC) is supposed to discuss in August this year 2100Mhz WCDMA frequency approval for use in USA. If that goes well we could probably see carriers such as AT&T adding that band to their list as early as beginning of next year. Rough estimation only of course.

Apollon, what connection details do you use for MMS? Nothing I've tried worked. I've loaded the cab file in this thread and also tried the connection settings in the AT&T Online Tutorials for the Tilt.

I rarely use MMS, so I haven't actually attempted to configure it yet. WM 6.1 in Omnia is different from previous versions, so some AT&T network tweaking might need to be done to support this. You might have to wait until i907 actually hits AT&T (in September, according to rumors) and just get the MMS settings from AT&T support pages.

Thanks for the reply Apollon. I fought and fought with configuring it and nothing worked. I'm in the process of returning it now. It's a good phone with a ton of features that I like but I paid waaaay too much money not to have all the functionality that this phone is supposed to have. Maybe I'll give it a look again when the i907 drops on AT&T. I'm impatient though so September is seems like an eternity to wait. In the meantime the HTC Touch Pro has already caught my eye to research
