vzw put out rom update that unlocks the gps on samsung saga!
that's 2 of the 3 phones that were mentioned to be unlocked
really looks like vzw will make good on unlocking the omnia
maybe a little than we were hoping for, but still great steps vzw is making
hope it comes out soon

I hope this comes soon and it would be awesome if it was an over the air update that could be done without syncing.

It won't be an over the air update. To my knowledge, only two VZW phones have FOTA (firmware over the air) capability -- Blackberry Storm and LG Versa. *228 updates "roaming capability" and not your device's firmware.
