Default Samsung Omnia - Already SO MANY PROBLEMS

Having bought Samsung"s new Omnia I have experienced SO MANY PROBLEMS ..

(1) the camera function fails to work kept warning insufficient memory when I havent even downloaded anything. Many of my friends experienced the same problems. Need to power off and on again to get camera working.

(2) now failing to transfer recorded video from Omnia to my pc. Both cable and bluetooth failing to transfer.

(3) WiFi doesnt connect.

Worse still, I have been waiting 48 hours to get a return call after I asked for help on the Samsung Omnia Hotline 6513 3260 [SINGAPORE]

I have also called the Samsung Main Hotline 1800-SAMSUNG (726-7864). Staff says I will get a reply soon. After 4 calls to them, I asked to speak to the Customer services manager. That was 24hours ago. Still no reply from both The Omnia guy or the Manager.

Anyone else experiencing these poor services from Samsung Singapore ?

I'm guessing this is why its ONLY available in Singapore. Appears Singaporeans (sp?) are the guinea pigs and they'll start rolling the phone out to other markets (probably Europe first) once they've got the beast under control a little more.

Sorry to hear about your problems... I hope a fellow Omnier can come and clear some things up for you. But you're of a rare breed at the moment

Keep us posted, Michael!

Try to check phone software version. The old version is i900DXHG2 and update phone version is i900DXHG4. It could solve some of your problem but there might be some more problem. This very normal for modern mobile phone and smart phone especially windows mobile phone. Enjoy your Omnia!

Cheers!

Default Piece of JUNK!

Have had mine for almost a week with G4 ROM. The screen is always going black on me with no real reason and always under different scenarios. COntacted the retailer and am exchanging this thing for an HTC Touch Pro. Hopefully I will have better luck with it. For those experienced phone geeks out there such as myself :>) Buy this only if you want to spend allot of time troubleshooting. For novice folks....use iPhone! Personally I despise iPhone, but think its good for novices. Wish me luck on my next WM adventure!

Hi everyone,
I got the samsung omnia a couple of days ago on ebay, and it was from singapore.
My version is the i900DXHG2..which i found out is the older version .

Anyways, im having problems connecting to the wifi internet settings.
Can anybody connecting to the WIFI? (In australia). If so, how do you do it?
I'm not very good with technology

If you can tell me the settings, that would be awesome!!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.
And does anyone know how to access the registry? I have no idea. I want to make a silent shutter for the camera by following some instructions i found on the net ...

Would i be encountering any problems by having this phone (eg. connection etc), since it's an overseas phone?"

Well got my new HTC Touch Pro yesterday that replaced my i900 Omnia. I must say that so far the experience has been nothing short of "awesomely impressive". Hopefully Samsung will one day get their Ominas performing better. I love their form factor, but the rest of it was an extreme disapointment to me. Oh well. Good luck to all of you and thanks for letting me vent my frustrations.

Use Total Commander.

Total Commander - WinCE/PocketPC

Free app and works great.

Shouldn't as long as your frequencies are supported. 3G may or may not work (don't know what band is used in Oz). You may have to find your providers internet settings to use that ... that seems to be an issue from what I've been reading.

Default GPS and Camera

My main problems are that the camera doesn't come on - though I did get to use it once on a hike and took several pictures - I then transferred all my files to the storage card but still shows insufficient memory and doesn't work

Got the GPS to start working but it always fails to recognize my position so basically useless.

However, despair not - I know some people at Samsung so I may manage to get them to address this - will keep you posted.

Default Camera - simple solution

Guys,

Going to task manager and shutting everything down does allow the camera to work - try that.

Default Omnia ROCKS

Got the Omnia a few days now.. 100% perfect.. No problems. Faster than the Iphone and with all the apps and full exchange integration makes this the ultimate business and consumer device. Exchange works great, I can do push email, Calendar, contact, Look up email on exchange and access my sharepoint site and files and edit and push them back to the site.. woah... Thanks Microsoft and Samsung for making my life easier !

I have had my omnia for a few days and luv it. I have one problem that keeps reapearring and maybe someone could help me with it, because samsung take too long to get ahold of. But my problem is I try to connect by wifi, which happens fine but if I lose the wifi connection it automatically tries to connect via GPRS. I know it is for constant connection but I don't want the GPRS to connect because it costs me money I dont need to spend. I have an email account setup on the phone, which I could take off if that was the only way, but I would prefer to keep it set up but only recieve the emails when I am connected by wifi. Thanks in advance to whoever helps me .

sorry, i am being very confusing. Is there anyway to make sure my fone does not check my email when I have no wifi signal....without disabling all of the fone functions. So I don't want it to check my email by gprs or hsdpa, only wifi...I think that makes sense.

ahjinnah omnia and WM 6.1 need the settings to be set right for your standings.
i had same problems at first but you need to experiment what is right for you.
so turn off gprs, hsdpa,WAP, and work with wifi..
wifi works ok ,download WEFI software and check out hot spots or your wifi router.
second for GPS to work a treat you need a software called
--gps gateway 2.0--
its like windows xp,vista,,etc you need software mate to get things to work great.
omnia is a treat you need to spend time on this beast..

i live in greece whats the difference between omnias in singapore and europe?

I too am experiencing some problems (and like u can't get support). The major one is my screen won't "awake" so I am having to reset a few times per day. I can hear the functions are active, can even recieive a call - but can't see anything until I reset. Really, really annoying.

Any insight on this?
