Default Samsung Omnia GPS Satellite Searching

Hi,

I got my Omnia 3 days back and have spent most of the time trying to get the GPS to work

After almost 1 day of troubleshooting and playing around with the GPS configuration FINALLY the GPS began to work!! I used GPS Port = COM3; Hardware Port = COM9 and Velocity = 9600.

However the next day, when I switch on the GPS, nothing happens. I have since then changed the COM Ports, velocity etc.. multiple times to no avail.. The GPS gets detected and then keep draining the batter while trying to obtain a fix...

I tried enabling AGPS, left it active all the time but I am not sure if anything is happening. When I click the button
Data Transfer XTRA, I get a warning saying I will be charged extra for using GPRS but no other feedback. How do I know whether this AGPS
worked or downloaded anything!!??

I am using the default Route 66 software that came with my mobile.

I tried using GPS Gate but it never seems to detect my GPS.

From what I could see, lots of people are having issues with the GPS on Omnia. Is there any correct solution out there???

Please help!

TIa,
sg

mate
google,download gps gateway..

--gps gateway--
set the {input}-- settings to com3 57600
add output----- com3 57600
active otput----gpsgate direct
and press open at the input....

it should say-- GPS DATA IS COMING IN --RUNNING OK--

APPLY the same settings com3 57600
in your gps navigation software{destinator,igo,etc etc}
if it aint working do a soft reset and should fire up!
destinator shows 7 satellites have been found and works great!
what gps navigation software do you use??

Default Samsung Omnia GPS / Satellite Problems Solution For Tomtom Navigation Software

Hi Guys,

Samsung Omnia works superfine with Tomtom Navigation Software and here is the fix to the satellite signal problem;

1st - Settings:
I use in external GPS settings - program port "COM7" and hardware port "COM9" at 4800. (note: Make sure your TomTom configure also follows COM7 port!)
2nd - Reboot
Then I shut off the device completely (complete off), and reboot. Once I reboot.
3Rd - Delete the 'GPSID_log' files
I go to File Explorer --> My Device and I delete the TWO 'GPSID_log' fileS.
[note: the reboot step is absolutely necessary, because if you don't reboot, then it won't allow you to delete one of the 'GPSID_log' file!!!]
4th - Start TomTom OUTSIDE (under the clear sky) and within 20 - 30 secs the program catches the satellites (they show up on the configure screen). But not only that - after 1-2 minutes the software actually CONNECTS to the satellites (the satellites turn BLUE) and in the front screen it says - no route planned! Note: You Must Wait Until The Front Screen Says "No Rote Planned" and the map is in color (opposed to black and white) before you start setting your destination, otherwise it will keep on hanging and just showing you the satellites in grey without ever turning into blue.
