If you want Verizon Wireless to honor your phones limited 1 year manufacturer warranty, you would comply with the updates.

If anything ever goes wrong, Verizon will not exchange your phone in a store without the newest software being installed.

The updates are good things...no reason to fret.

This is where I would have to disagree with you. Look at the DARE, after i got the V05 update on DARE #3 I had to get a new phone because aside from all the problems that I had with V03, V05 just made things worse.

Dare #4 was exchanged for #5 while I still had V03 software because I refused to put that software back on my phone.

If it was me, I wouldn't have been able to complete your exchange without you having the newest software.

Also, software reacts differently with every phone. Some Dares may have problems with an update while most will not.

True, but you just helped me make my point. Most updates will not harm the phone, it will only help it; but there is always that small percentage that has a problem with the software. I dont think its fair to force an update on someone if it has a chance, no matter how small, to mess up their phone. Like Waynester said in a previous post, I don't even let my computer update itself w/o my consent after microsoft xp sp2 wiped out my computer.

if they were all the earth shattering important why does verizon chose not to inform people of updates at the present time?
you yourself felt it was needed to post about the voyager ver11 update, that could easily with little expense been sent as txt alert to voyager phone
updates do not come so often that it should be impossible to do

if service is needed, that should be one of the first checks in trouble shooting ,so warranty and exchanges are a moot point
updates,no fret? ever heard of microsoft

i do have all of my updates, on phones, BUT they were of a time and place of my choosing
need i remind you of boulders OTA probs?
or most recently *228 opt 3?
i usually wait till first release bugs are noted
