Wifi *228 option 3

*228 option 3 has a 99.8% success rate on the Verizon Wireless network.

The overall *228 options are there to improve your phone and do basic programming to your phone.

*228 option 1-Program a phone (usually a new, upgrade or something). This will activate a brand new phone on your line.

*228 option 2-Update your roaming capabilities. Roaming doesn't necessarily mean off network coverage in this case. For example, Verizon Wireless can build a wireless tower a block from your house. Until you dial *228 and press option 2 from your device, that tower will not be recognized. It is suggested to do this monthly.

*228 option 3-Simultaneously switch between phones (which have been previously activated on your line at some point) you want to use! It takes 2 minutes...and you no longer need to contact Verizon Wireless to do this! It is Verizon's response to AT&T having the luxury of SIM Cards.

*228 option 3 can or should be used for the following:
  • Using a device you have previously used, or one that has at least been activated.
Do not use the *228 option 3 feature for the following (it won't work if you do):
  • You cannot activate a device (like a Blackberry) which requires specific data or additional plan which you do not have. You can add it, then it'll work.
  • Trying to activate a phone that you purchased at retail price (since it is supposed to extend contract and/or upgrade date.)

Wifi

Hmm...never thought of that. Try it out...after all, this is a new feature. I'm thinking it just needed to be previously activated. Like you couldn't go down to Verizon Wireless and purchase a phone at retail and activate it without calling, since that would extend the contract.

I am going to actually edit my post some, so check back in 5 minutes.
