You know how these days, once kids hit the college ranks, they tend to have a mobile phone and no land line? Well the older generation and those not able to get good reception might soon jump on board.
Apparently you can attach a little "mobile tower" to your router (it is small folks... like a mini-modem) and it will send out a signal allowing your phone connection to be crystal clear.
Sprint is doing the same thing right now and it costs like $50 bucks for the device and then $15/month for unlimited calls from your house. That beats your current landline deal I bet... right?
Not bad... unfortunately for Sprint I think the technology has more possibilities on Verizon. You buy a Cable TV, internet and Mobile Phone package and this "femtocell" tower comes along with your modem and router. It's part of the "package deal" benefits which Sprint doesn't have the advantage of being able to offer.

I think the biggest use is if you're a Verizon customer and your house has "dead spots" and the signal is hard to get in some places. But I think your service SHOULD work in your house by default. If not either get a new carrier or get a new house... or Verizon could be kind enough to cover this "femtocell" bill since there is a huge opt-out charge. I doubt that will ever happen.
