LG Dare Echo Phone Calls
Hello Everyone,
I just recently purchased my dare at a Verizon store last week. I was speaking to a person earlier today over the phone, and the first thing they mentioned while in the conversation was that they heard an echo on their end. I managed to hear them clearly, but they kept saying that every word on their end comes back? I called my brother and girlfriend to see if this has been happening all along, and they said it did during their conversations with me. Yeah, I know...thanks for telling me earlier!
I just want to know if anyone else has been noticing this with their phones. Initially I thought it was the service in my area, but at this point I do believe its the phone. Any help would be awesome...

I also have had the Dare for 3 weeks now. My people have also complained of a strong echo. They also say that it gets better/less when I click from Bluetooth to Handset, but is just as bad with Speakerphone, and with Handset or Speakerphone they say I sound far away and harder to hear than Bluetooth. Once I leave home this is somewhat reduced. At times, though I have 4 bars at 1X (not EVDO) they cannot hear me as I the signal breaks up. This is very dissapointing, and I come from a RazR v3m which never gave me this much trouble. I pay $200 for a phone that I can't communicate with. Heck with the camera, give me a phone that works!!! I am very frustrated!!!

LG Dare "echo" problem
My LG Dare echoes to many others on the opposite end , all different phones and calls so I know it's my Dare , Verizon CS store says they haven't had anything like that , however I'm glad to see I'm not the only one, not glad but you know, there is definately something up with this phone, and it costs a lot of money I live in the Portland area hopefully this can be resolved , I stand to lose business

Swap it out for a new one!
Since my last post, I was getting frustrated with all the Echo's everyone seem to claim they have been hearing. I went to the Verizon Store where I initially got my phone, and the tech guys made a couple of calls into thier office line and notticed the difference. One of the tech guys swore that the phone on the other end sounded like you were talking to it via speaker, when in fact it was directly through the phone mic.
He told me that it will get swapped out, and exchanged it for a new one. They transferred all the numbers, so I didnt loose anything except the text messages which I had accumilated since I originally got the phone. Overall, the new LG Dare which they swapped it out for works great! It might be just a bad batch of new phones which made it through quality control, but I feel confident that Verizon will be able to swap it out once they can reproduce the error on thier end. Just have them try it themselves if they doubt you...it worked for me.

Also getting echo
Hello all,
Just wanted to say I also have had the same issue (poor reception or echo noise majority of the time). I bought my new Dare a week ago to replace a Motorola RAZR. I took it back to the verizon store today to see if I had a specific bad phone or if an upgrade was needed and the sales/customers rep checked it (made some calls) and didn't think anything is wrong with it. Unfortunately he wouldn't replace it. I guess I have to return it (minus the $20 restocking fee) since I can't go another 2 years with such poor reception.

I've had the Dare for 2 months as of the 26th. At first I've never had such good reception then 3 weeks ago it all started. The echo'ing is on my end as I can hear myself in the phone and it's annoying. Also the person on the other ends hears me fade in and out sometimes. I always have at least 3 bars EV and 3 1x.
I must also note this happened with my Env2. I got it and from day one it acted up like this. Had it replaced twice and still no fix. They did a network ticket out here and that came up with no problems.
Maybe, it's something in the new LG phones or maybe it's the network I don't know. Frustrating when you pay this much money.

Echo problem on Dare
I went to my local Verizon store 2 days ago and purchased a new Dare. The phone itself is great, but I am having the same problem everyone on this thread is having. People on the other end (cell phones and land-lines) hear themselves. Each word they say repeats once a second after they speak. I hear them perfectly fine. I tested it myself several times by calling myself on another phone and it does it quite often. I do notice that the echo stops if I put the phone in speaker mode or press the Mute button or use a blue tooth. The Verizon salesperson acted as if he never heard of this before and was reluctant to give me a new phone the same day I bought it. He had me call Star 228, option 1 then Star 228 then option 2 to reset the phone. Then remove the battery while it was still on. It still had the echo. A went back the next day and he gave me a new Dare. It worked fine for a call or two, but then it started doing it again. I am in the Baltimore area. I know it wasn't the phone, but maybe you are right in that it is a batch of phones. Too bad, the phone itself is great. I am still within the 3 day period of my purchase. They let you get a full refund within 3 days of purchase. If I can't resolve this by the end of the day, I'll have to try another model or wait til Verizon adapts the iPhone.

LG Dare echo is horrible!
Hi there,
I purchased my Dare a couple months ago and my callers complained about hearing an echo. I took the phone into Verizon and the tech could hear the echo as well. I elected to replace the unit (it was still within the 30 days return window.) The new unit I received does the exact same thing! Same echo! Now that I am no longer within the 30 day return window, Verizon tells me there is nothing they can do about it, and I'll have to rely on the manufacturer's one year warranty. What a crock.
Obviously, with this many people have this problem with their Dare, this is a bad batch, or a design flaw. In addition, the phone now won't display the keyboard when I am asked to enter my password while retrieving my voicemail. I use this device as a phone first and foremost. I don't really care about the LG's iphone wanna-be interface. If it is going to be this riddled with bugs that effect its primary function, it shouldn't have been released to the market. For all the trouble and frustration I have had with the Dare, I can honestly say I would not recommend it to other customers.

lg echo fix
turn down the volume while your on the phone with the other party
it's what verizon said anyway, it seems to get the other party to say it's better.

More on the LG Dare
Thanks. I've tried to lower the lower the volume. No affect. Besides if you have to do that, then in my opinion the phone has a major design flaw.
So I went into Verizon a fourth time. I explained that the unit was producing the same echo and now that the sensor wasn't detecting the phone's placement when I was trying to retrieve my voicemail. The manager of the store offered to replace the unit or trade to a different phone. Like a stooge, I elected to get a new Dare. The sensor on this unit works fine (the sensors are what appears to be two little holes near the top of the phone that senses when the unit is up against your head and when it's not.) But guess what? The echo remains ("yes" this unit does have the latest firmware and software updates.)
So its back to Verizon to return the unit and get a different model phone all together, or do what I probably should have done in the first place which is buy an overpriced iPhone.

LG Dare: What a disappointment!
Verizon has NO BUSINESS putting this dog of a phone on the market. I recently purchased 6 of these pricey units for my company through Verizon's corporate sales. All of us using the phone have found their performance frustrating and unacceptable due to:
1. Lousy reception and continuous dropped calls
2. Echo (enough to drive you crazy!)
3. Callers can't hear you (they think we're on speaker phones)
4. Bluetooth connectivity problems
In closing, all I can recommend is DON'T BUY THIS PHONE!!! This device was obviously rushed to market and Verizon, you have some explaining to do.

This is an interesting thread. I have experienced this issue with my home phone (it is a VOIP and the issue would happen when calling cell and land lines) and was addressed and solved by the service provider.
One thing is that I don't recognize any of the posters in this thread as frequent current forum members. My point is, has this ever been an issue with LMB, waynester, Chief SAH, etal? Also Jeffs, what part of the country are you in? It might shed some light on the problem.
